4.India vs Australia, Brisbane 2008
After having defeated the hosts convincingly in Sydney in 2008, India arrived in Brisbane full of confidence and looking to seal the best of 3 finals of the CB series 2-0. MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first and led by yet another excellent innings of 91 from Sachin Tendulkar and a few cameos from the test, India reached a respectable 258 for 9 in their 50 overs.
Australia were rocked early thanks to a fine opening burst by Praveen Kumar, who reduced the hosts to 32 for 3 before Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds put on 91 to bring the game on an even keel. But twin strikes of both batsmen in quick succession meant that the hosts had to rebuild once again and India ensured that they kept striking regularly to not allow them to build any momentum and despite a feisty 63 by James Hopes, they fell short of the mark by 9 runs to hand the Indians a famous win.
