Nayeem Hasan, the 17-year-old cricketer of Bangladesh, makes history by becoming the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul on his Test debut in Chittagong against the Windies. The right-arm spinner is the only Bangladeshi international cricketer who was born in the current century.

Nayeem bettered Pat Cummins to ink his name in the record book for taking a five-for in Tests as a debutant. And overall, Nayeem became the fourth youngest bowler to take a five-for in the longest format of the game.

The youngest kid on the block was called into the Bangladesh Test squad earlier this year but did not get any chance to play for the Tigers.

This time around, selectors had no way to ignore as the off-spinner took the most number of wickets in the National Cricket League 2018.

The charming player paved his way to the national side performing well for the Bangladesh U-19 team.

Nayeem dismissed Roston Chase to claim his maiden Test wicket, and right after that, he took claimed the scalps of Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Roach and Jomel Warrican as well to register his maiden five-wicket haul.

Nayeem Hasan became Bangladesh’s eighth bowler to take a five-wicket haul as a debutant as well.

The previous seven bowlers are Naimur Rahman, Manjurul Islam, Mahmudullah Riyad, Elias Sunny, Shoag Gazi, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Despite Nayeem’s heroics, Bangladesh lost their commanding position in the Chittagong Test as they have lost five wickets in their second innings scoring a total of 55 runs.

They failed to utilize their first innings lead of 78. At the end of the second day, the hosts lead by 133 runs only.

Jomel Warrican and Roston Chase took two wickets each so far in Bangladesh's second innings.

Soumya Sarkar, the southpaw, failed again to grab his chance to cement a place in the Tigers’ Test set-up as he got dismissed scoring only 11.

Imrul Kayes also failed to leave a mark on the game. The Bangladeshi opening-pair were back in the dressing room with just 13 runs on the board.

Bangladesh will play another Test against the tourists in Dhaka, which to be played from 30 November.
