Team India's juggernaut continued as they scripted a wonderful triumph in their opening Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup against Afghanistan. The Kensington Oval in Barbados witnessed India record a comfortable 47-run win on Thursday, June 20.

Batting first, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli struggled on a two-paced track. They were out early before Suryakumar Yadav took charge. He played an important innings, counter-attacking the Afghan spinners with aplomb.

SKY registered his second consecutive fifty as India put up an above-par total of 181. Hardik Pandya made a handy 32.

In response, the Afghan batters faltered as the Indian bowlers made merry. Jasprit Bumrah's legend continued to grow as he recorded ridiculous figures of 3-7 in four overs. Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav also took five wickets between them as India bundled out Afghanistan for 134.

On that note, here are three of the best records that were broken in India's win over Afghanistan.

#3 Most catches in a T20 World Cup edition

Rishabh Pant's comeback into the Indian team has been heartwarming, to say the least. He has not only provide impetus with the bat in hand, Pant's wicketkeeping skills have also been on full display.

In four innings in this edition, the left-hander has held 10 catches. This is now the most any player has plucked in a T20 World Cup campaign. Pant broke Adam Gilchrist's record, who had nine grabs during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.

Against Afghanistan, the Delhi-born Pant took four catches.

#2 Fewest runs conceded by an Indian in a T20 WC match (4-over spell)

Another day, another freak show by who else but Jasprit Bumrah. If a bowler returns with figures of 3-7, it's one of his best spells. However, when it comes to Bumrah, these kinds of figures are routine.

In four overs, he kept the Afghan batters on tenterhooks, never releasing the pressure, conceding only seven runs. This is the fewest any Indian bowler has conceded in a four-over spell in T20 World Cup history.

Incredibly, the previous record was set up in only in the last match. It was Arshdeep Singh, who took superb figures of 4-9 against the USA.

#1 Suryakumar Yadav has the joint-most POTM awards for India in T20Is

The World No. 1 ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav continued where he left off against the US. To his credit, SKY played a phenomenal innings on a difficult track against Afghanistan. He maneuvered himself according to the field and found five boundaries and three sixes.

His innings of 53 earned him the Player of the Match award. Notably, it was Suryakumar's 15th Player of the Match award in the format, joining Virat Kohli for most POTM award wins for India in T20 internationals.

Out of his 15 T20I Player of the Match awards, three have come in T20 World Cups.
