V.V.S. Laxman is currently the second-highest run-scorer for India against Australia. There is no sounder quote to describe "Very Very Special" Laxman than Harsha Bhogle's famous one-liner, "Always the Artist, Never the Superstar".

Laxman was one of the most elegant batsmen ever to play this fine game. Very few can flick a ball more beautifully than Laxman.

He played for 14 years representing India 29 times against Australia. The Telangana-born cricketer scored 2434 runs at an average close to 50 per game.

He played one of the greatest innings of all time at Edens Gardens, when Australia visited India in 2001. He helped India win the Eden Gardens Test from a follow-on position by scoring a record 281 runs in the 3rd innings.

He played an equally good knock at Adelaide, scoring 148 against Australia, scripting a famous Indian win on Australian soil.
