Luke Ronchi was born in Dannevirke, New Zealand on 23 April 1981. He's the second player to represent two ICC Member countries, after Kepler Wessels. During Australia's tour of West Indies in 2008, Ronchi was named to be the replacement for Brad Haddin after the wicketkeeper broke his finger.

There he went on to play a few games during which he became the second Australian player to score the fastest-50, scoring 64 runs from 28 balls. In the year 2013, Ronchi was announced in the international squad of New Zealand.

He played for the two countries of Australia and New Zealand and became the first player ever to do so. Ronchi announced his retirement from International cricket on 22nd June after playing his last match in 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. The 37-year-old is a right-handed batsman who also played as a wicketkeeper.
