Piyush Chawla announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Friday, June 6. The 36-year-old wrist spinner played three Tests, 25 ODIs, and seven T20Is in his career.
Chawla made his international debut for India in 2006 in a Test match against England in Mohali. His ODI debut came the very next year in 2007 against Bangladesh in Mirpur, while his T20I debut came in 2010 against South Africa.
Piyush Chawla bagged seven wickets in Tests, 32 wickets in ODIs, and four T20I wickets. He is a double World Cup-winner, being part of India's squad during the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup.
Chawla also featured in 192 IPL matches. He had a stellar career in the cash-rich league, picking up 192 wickets, and is the fourth-highest wicket-taker. He won the title with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2014.
The 36-year-old last featured in the league in 2024 for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and last played professional cricket in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Piyush Chawla also played the U19 World Cup in 2006, when India lost to Pakistan in the final.

#5 Yo Mahesh

Fast bowling all-rounder Yo Mahesh was part of the Indian Team during the 2006 U19 World Cup alongside Piyush Chawla. The right-arm quick had bagged 11 wickets from six matches in the tournament, including a wicket in the final.
Yo Mahesh did not play for the senior Indian team but featured in 50 first-class, 61 List-A, and 46 T20s. He also played 18 matches in the IPL and was a part of two teams - Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The pacer was last seen playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 league in 2021.
#4 Shahbaz Nadeem

Former Indian spinner Shahbaz Nadeem was also Piyush Chawla's teammate in the 2006 U19 World Cup. Nadeem played two Tests for India and bagged eight wickets.
However, he played a lot of domestic cricket, featuring in 140 first-class, 134 List-A, and 150 T20 matches. The left-arm spinner also played 72 IPL matches for the Delhi Daredevils, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), picking up 48 wickets. Nadeem announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2024.
#3 Cheteshwar Pujara

Veteran Indian Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara also featured in the 2006 U19 World Cup alongside Piyush Chawla. Pujara had a brilliant tournament, scoring 349 runs from six matches at an average of 116.33, with a hundred and two half-centuries. He was named the 'Player of the Series.'
Pujara has played 103 Tests and five ODIs for India. The right-hander has piled on 7195 Test runs at an average of 43.60, with 19 hundreds and 35 half-centuries. However, he last featured for India in the 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia.
#2 Ravindra Jadeja

Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is also among the big names to have played the 2006 U19 World Cup with Piyush Chawla. Jadeja scored 34 runs from four matches and picked up four wickets in the tournament.
The all-rounder went on to establish himself among the best in the business. He has represented India in 80 Tests, 204 ODIs, and 74 T20Is. Jadeja has scored 3370 Test runs, 2806 ODI runs, and 515 T20I runs. He has also picked up 323, 231, and 54 wickets in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, respectively.
#1 Rohit Sharma

Star Indian batter Rohit Sharma is perhaps the biggest name to have played the 2006 U19 World Cup with Piyush Chawla. Rohit had scored 205 runs from six matches in the tournament, with three half-centuries. He also played with Chawla in the IPL while the leg-spinner was part of the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Rohit Sharma has played 67 Tests, 273 ODIs, and 159 T20Is for India. He has scored 4301, 11168, and 4231 runs in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, respectively. The star batter recently announced his retirement from Tests and also retired from T20Is in 2024. He will now play only ODIs for India.
