After seeing the huge fan base of the Indian Premier League, Bangladesh also tried initiating the same in their country and it attained an amazing response from the cricket lovers due to the involvement of many famous foreign players.
The inaugural edition of the Bangladesh Premier League was played in the year 2012 with 6 teams - Dhaka Dynamites, Comilla Victorians, Chittagong Vikings, Khulna Titans, Rajshahi Kings, and Sylhet Superstars. The seventh team known as Rangpur Riders made an entry into the BPL from its second edition.
Dhaka Dynamites have so far emerged as the most successful team from the Bangladesh Premier League as they have won 3 out of the total 5 seasons of BPL. Currently, Rangpur Riders are sitting on the throne of BPL as they defeated the 3 times champions, Dhaka Dynamites in the final of the 5th season.
The Bangladeshi cricketers have gained confidence and momentum through this tournament. Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan are the best examples of it as they are at the top-most position in this format when it comes to runs and wickets. #5 Rangpur Riders vs Dhaka Dynamites (2017)
Universe Boss, as he is fondly called, Chris Gayle made the final match of BPL 2017 a memorable one. He sailed his team to an unimaginable score of 211/1 which proved to be very high for the Dhaka team.
Gayle played an unbeaten knock of 146 runs at a sparkling strike rate of 211.59 smashing 18 sixes in the grand finale. In the end, Dhaka Dynamites could score only 3 runs more than Gayle’s score as Riders won the match by 57 runs.
With such a giant score on the board, Rangpur Riders lifted the trophy for the first time thanks to the contribution of Chris Gayle. Gayle was awarded the man of the match award for his mind-boggling innings which took his team over the boundary line, creating history.

#4 Barisal Bulls vs Dhaka Dynamites (2016)
Dhaka Dynamites is the most successful team in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League so far with 3 titles out of the possible 5 to its name. One of the main reasons for it is their star-studded lineup featuring players like Dwayne Bravo and Shakib Al Hasan.
Dwayne Bravo gave his best contribution to his team during the 4th edition of BPL with his all-round skills. Bravo made sure that the money invested in him will not be in vain as he took his team over the line in one of the most thrilling encounters. In the match against the Barisal Bulls, Dhaka restricted them to 132/6 in their 20 overs.
While chasing a small total of 133, Dhaka Dynamites suffered a collapse losing 2 wickets off the last 2 balls of the 19th over and were left requiring 2 runs from 5 balls with just 4 wickets in their hand. Dwayne Bravo was at the striker’s end batting with the tail-enders. However, Bravo kept his cool and managed to score a boundary over the cover position and won the match for his team.
#3 Comilla Victorians vs Barrisal Bulls (2015)
Bangladesh Premier League has given a huge amount of confidence and a perfect platform for new faces to enter into the international cricket. Alok Kapali is one such player who utilized this opportunity very well, along with creating history as well. Alok came into the limelight due to his match-winning innings for Comilla Victorians during the BPL 2015 final.
While batting first, Barisal Bulls set the target of 157 runs on the board for Comilla Victorians, thanks to Mahmudullah’s 48 runs innings. Bulls turned the tables in the finale as they took the match to the last over. Comilla Victorians required 13 runs from 6 balls with Kapali at the batting crease.
The equation went down to 7 runs from 3 balls which seemed to be very difficult in that pressure situation. However, Kapali managed to smash the boundary bringing down the equation to 3 runs from 2 balls. Alok Kapali won the match and the tournament for his side on the last ball of that match by taking a quick single.
#2 Sylhet Superstars vs Dhaka Dynamites (2015)
Shahid Afridi has been well-known in the world of cricket for his smashing power with the bat. He has the ability to smash every ball for a boundary without any fear of losing his wicket. For his special ability, he is even nicknamed as BOOM BOOM Afridi. This batting style helped him in winning a nail-biting thriller for his side during the BPL 2015.
While batting first, Dhaka Dynamites managed to score 157 runs on the board. The score seemed to be achievable for Sylhet Superstars as they had some high profile players in their side. But due to a collapse in the middle order, the match went on till the last over and ended out to be one of the closest encounters in the history of BPL.
Sylhet Superstars required 8 runs from the last 3 balls with Shahid Afridi at the striker’s end. Afridi did the unimaginable and hit a six on the leg side which turned the game in favor of his team. Shahid Afridi didn’t stop here as he smashed one more six on the same side and stole the match for his team which seemed impossible at a moment.

#1 Chittagong Vikings vs Sylhet Superstars (2016)
Mohammad Amir has remained as the main pillar of Pakistan’s bowling line-up since his debut in the cricketing world. Keeping his current form aside, he is regarded as the best death bowler of Pakistan. Amir had proved why he is one of the best death bowlers during the match against Sylhet Superstars in BPL 2016.
Tamim Iqbal and Yasir Ali’s half centuries had helped Vikings reach a total of 180/6 in 20 overs and Superstars looked to seal the match with Dilshan Munaweera and M Rahim’s heroics taking them to 172/6 in 19 overs.
Mohammad Amir was given the ball during the last over of that match with a difficult task to defend 9 runs from 6 balls with Mushfiqur Rahim at the batting crease. However, Amir stunned the whole crowd as he bowled 2 dot balls in that over bringing down the equation to 8 runs from 3 balls. Amir ended up winning the match for his side as he just conceded 7 runs in that over as Chittagong Vikings won the match by the slimmest margin of 1 run.
