Dhaka Dynamites is a cricket franchise which plays in the Bangladesh Premier League. It was formed in 2009 for National Cricket League T20, but got acquired by Beximco Group and the league being replaced by the Bangladesh Premier League.
They have won the league three times consecutively in 2012, 2013 and 2016 from the five leagues held which is a quite great achievement. Its home ground Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka is quite beautiful and renowned.
The Dynamites are captained by Shakib Al Hasan, with Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Rovman Powell being other prominent players.
Founded in 2009 as Dhaka Gladiators, they were meant to play in the National Cricket League T20. However, National Cricket League T20 got replaced by Bangladesh Premier League and the team was sold at US$5.05 million to Europa Group.
Due to many corruption charges on the Europa Group, this team was reacquired in 2015 by Beximco Group. It was then re-named as Dhaka Dynamites by the original owners.
Dhaka Dynamites have proven itself to be a prominent player in the tournament by winning three times in the BPL. They have a winning ratio of 60%.
If we talk about the player's performance then the captain of the team Shakib Al Hasan has given his best performance and is one of the top run scorers. In the 61 matches played, he has scored 1182 runs in total at a 26.26 average.

The team was able to bring in Shakib Al Hasan, one of the most expensive and experienced players of the league as the captain of the team in 2013. He was named the player of the series in the previous edition of the tournament. Following the footprints of the 2012 victory, the Gladiators (now Dynamites) won the 2013 edition of the BPL.
In 2015, they were given a new look and Shakib Al Hasan was replaced by Kumar Sangakkara. This team lost the tournament but managed to secure the fourth place out of six in the tournament. Sangakkara ended up as the highest run scorer of the league, with 349 runs from 10 innings.
After an average season, the Dynamites brought back Shakib Al Hasan in the team and also added the likes of Andre Russel, Dwayne Bravo and Mahela Jayawardene among others. It could be said that the 2016-17 was the most successful season for the team till now as they went on to win eight of the 12 matches played. They were the top placed team in the points table, before they ended up being the three time champions.
The 2017-18 BPL was the Dynamites losing the finals by a huge margin of 57 runs. However, the team had a good performance with seven wins from 12 matches, and Shakib ending the tournament with the most wickets(22).
