The duo tried hard in the 2nd innings

Keaton Jennings-3/10

After been given repeated chances, he once again failed to deliver in this outing. He might be in danger of losing his place in the side for the remaining matches.

Alastair Cook-3.5/10

Being a Stalwart and England's leading run scorer, he failed to deliver in the entire series. Apart from one stunning catch he took to dismiss Rahane, he hasn't done anything noteworthy in this match.

Joe Root-3/10

Failed in this match both as a Batsman and as a Captain. Be it inserting India to Bat first, dropping Sam Curran or looking out of place as a Batsman, he didn't lead from the front.

Olle Pope-5/10

He didn't score much but he did show some application and intent with the bat that the other senior players lacked in this match.

Jonny Bairstow-3.5/10

He had a very tough test match where he fractured his finger and with the bat, he did not deliver when it was most necessary.

Jos Buttler- 8/10

The keeper-batsman was England's top scorer in both their innings and was the one of the few who looked to bat with an intent. He went onto score a wonderful century in the 4th innings but was unfortunate not to end up in the winning side. He replaced Johnny Bairstow as the keeper when latter was injured with a fractured finger.

Ben Stokes- 7.5/10

The all-rounder who missed the last test due to his trial faced a tough start to the test match failing both with the bat and ball in the first innings but in the 4th innings he combined with Jos Buttler to give some respectability to the total.

Chris Woakes- 5.5/10

He was the wrecker in India's first innings. But apart from that, he didn't have any considerable contribution in this match.

Adil Rashid-4.5/10

His lengths and line were not consistent. He did get the wicket of Virat Kohli and denied him a century in the first innings but was expensive.in his spells.

Stuart Broad-5/10

A lot was expected from this lanky fast bowler especially because he had bowled one of his devastating spells against Australia here in the Ashes. But he disappointed this time around in helpful conditions.

James Anderson- 5.5/10

The fast bowler might have had one of his unluckiest test matches. Many catches were put down off his bowling and the edges too didn't carry to the slips.
