England vs India, 4th Test Day 3 Session 2 : India desperate to get England all out

England are 152-5 at the end of the second session on Day 3 of the Southampton Test. They have succeeded in stretching the lead to 125 runs and that should be worrisome for the visitors as their chances are being hurt with every England batsman getting a start.

Second innings specialist, Mohammad Shami started the second session of the day on an impeccable note. Shami pitched it on the off stump to Bairstow who was playing his first ball and the nut did a little wobble inside and took down Bairstow's leg stump much to Kohli's joy. Shami also took the wicket of the well-settled Keaton Jennings on the last ball before Lunch.

While Indians would have hoped for this to be a start of the English collapse, it wasn't the case. India are desperate to get England all out because of the rough patches formed and the dust that has been flying with each ball, deteriorating the once hard deck at Rose Bowl.

Indians wouldn't like to chase anything above 175 considering Moeen Ali took a 5-er in the first innings and that England also have an extra spinner in Adil Rashid and a part-time option in Joe Root. The most disappointing thing has been Ashwin not affecting the innings at all yet. The offie's figures read 21-4-46-0 and India would hope that their prime spinner manages to pick up a wicket or two in the last session of the day.

On a positive note, India saw the back of English captain, Joe Root who was looking set for a 50. Again, India is thankful to Shami for affecting Root's run-out when the skipper called Stokes for a quick single. Root departed after a well-made 48.

Indians bowled better than the scoreboard would suggest. There were a lot of plays and misses with a lot of shouts and a few close calls. But India refrained from throwing away the only review that is left and rightly so for most of them would have gone in England's favor.

Ben Stokes looks settled after playing 80 balls scoring 20 runs and has a reliable Jos Buttler batting on 22 (39) for company.

India would love to wrap the England innings before the end of the day's play and come back fresh in the morning with their openers. Let's see how the final session unfolds.
