India's 5 lowest totals at Lord's 

The Day 2 of the 2nd Test match at Lord's between England and India welcomed both the teams with some bright sunshine to assure a better day for cricket after a complete washout on Day 1. England won the toss and to see visitors with a daunting task in hand to bat on a pitch that had all for the seamers to exploit.

It was a perfect setting for the English bowlers as they made the red cherry to move to account for three quick Indian wickets in just 8.3 overs amidst the impending rain leading to various stoppages in the play. It being a bowler-friendly track, Indians showed lack of application before getting bundled out for a paltry 107 in the first innings within the 36th over.

This was one of India's most dismal performances with the bat at the Home of Cricket. The overcast conditions for the entire course of the day made it really difficult for the batsmen to settle and get going form the ball one. Such a dismal show with the bat saw India register their fourth-lowest innings total at Lord's in the years so far.

#5 110 vs England, 2nd Test, Jun 22-26 1967

In the late 60s, Indian team didn't boast of enough personnel in their armoury for them to stage an upset against the English in their own backyard. Under the leadership of MAK Pataudi, the sub-continent giants did fancy an attacking brand of cricket but always lacked the men to bring it to the fore.

The batters always found it difficult to play against the moving ball. In the 2nd Test of the series in 1967, India were bowled out for just 110 in the 2nd innings. After the hosts posted 386 in their first innings, India were on the mat with scores of 156 and 110 in their respective innings to lose the game by an innings and 124 runs.

When England terrorized Indian batsmen with swing and seam off the pitch, the likes of left-arm spinner BS Bedi and leg-spinner BS Chandrasekhar led India's attack, to justify the gulf between the two teams.

#4 107 vs England, 2nd Test, Aug 9-13 2018

After snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at Edgbaston, the Indian team was believed to come back strongly in the 2nd Test match at the Home of cricket. But things haven't gone the visitors' way ever since the game started yesterday. After a complete washout on the first day, India lost the toss in challenging circumstances and had to bat first against a quality seam attack.

The red cherry just swung for the entire course of the Indian innings as they were eventually bowled for merely 107 to record fourth-worst performance with the bat at Lord's. None of the batters looked comfortable against the moving ball and the quality of the England attack proved to be too good for the Indian batsmen.

#3. 96 vs England, 2nd Test, Aug 2-7 1979

One of the best batting line up of the late 80s, Indians had a good mix of youth and the experience to take the team forward in some tough conditions. The batting top 4 for India comprised of Gavaskar, Chauhan, Vengsarkar and Vishwanath with Kapil Dev and Yashpal Sharma to follow in the order. The order boasted one who's who in the game but still somehow couldn't put on a show in the first innings.

India were bowled out for 96 as Ian Botham struck five times with some decent support from Hendrick and Lever. However, the batsmen learnt from their mistakes committed in the first innings to eventually save the Test match as Vengsarkar and Vishwanath raced their way to centuries at the historic Lord's to draw the match from a very delicate position in the game.

#2. 93 vs England, 1st Test, Jun 27-30 1936

In one of India's early tours to England after their debut in 1932 against England, the rookies in the Test cricket found it difficult to find their mojo at such a level. India had a decent fast bowling line up to terrorize even the English batters but it was the batting that always let us down.

In the second innings of the inaugural Test match of the series in 1936, the foreign team was found on the mat after an inspiring performance by the Indian quick to bowl England out for merely 134 in response to their 147 in the first innings. However, a poor show with the bat in the 2nd innings, it made tough for the Indians to get past the mighty English to give the game away by 9 wickets.

#1. 42 vs England, 2nd Test, Jun 20-24 1974

India always rely on their spin attack even on green pitches in England that don't have much to offer for the slow bowlers. In India's 2nd Test at Lord's vs England, the hosts posted a massive 629 in their 1st innings as India failed to get through batting line up in a convincing manner. The left-arm spinner in Chandrasekhar accounted for six England wickets after bowling 64 overs for his side.

This was enough an indicative for India's weak fast bowling strength. After letting the opposition run away, India managed 302 in their 1st innings and were asked to follow on as what followed was a tragic page in India's cricket history.

In what turned out to be the final innings of the Test match, India were bowled out for mere 42 runs to record for the lowest innings total at Lord's till date. England reigned their supremacy to eventually take the game by an innings and 285 runs.
