Dhawan makes a return to the squad after missing out on the 2nd Test

After comfortably winning the second Test against Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs, the Indian cricket team have announced the 15 man squad for the third and final Test which will be held at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.

Shikhar Dhawan, who had asked the team management for a rest prior to the second Test finds himself back in the squad.

Mohammed Shami, too, makes a return to the squad after missing out on the action in the 2nd Test due to a niggle he picked up in the first.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who got married during the second Test will miss out on the action in the third Test as well.

Apart from Dhawan and Shami's return, the BCCI has not thrown up any surprises. Vijay Shankar, who was drafted into the squad will hope to make his debut.

It will also be interesting to see whether Dhawan will play instead of KL Rahul, who has looked out of sorts over the past few months.

Here is the final 15 man squad:

Virat Kohli (Capt), Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vc), Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Vijay Shankar.

The team management also announced the squad for the ODI series against the Lankans. Rohit Sharma will lead the side as Virat Kohli has been given a rest ahead of the vital away tour against South Africa which begins at the beginning of 2018. IPL star Sidharth Kaul has been included in the squad as well.

The squad for the Test series against South Africa will also be announced today.
