Australia defeated India by three wickets in a thrilling encounter at Vizag on Sunday to go 1-0 up in the two-match T20I series. Asked to bat first by the visiting captain, India were restricted to 126/7 in 20 overs. Nathan Coulter Nile led the Australian attack and picked up 3 wickets. KL Rahul top-scored for India with a well made 50.

In response, Australia chased down the target in the final ball of the game. Glenn Maxwell's 56 runs proved to be the difference in the end. Some incompetent death bowling from Umesh Yadav accounted for India's defeat. Jhye Richardson and Pat Cummins scored 14 runs off the last over to secure a 1-0 lead in the series.

#1- Virat Kohli (512 runs against Australia) becomes the first batsman to complete 500 runs against an opposition in T20Is.

#1- It was another First for Virat Kohli at Vizag as it was the 1st time he was not able to score a fifty at the venue in an international game. Prior to this game, he had always scored at least 50 runs on this ground.

#2- Jasprit Bumrah (51) became only the second Indian bowler to scalp 50 wickets in T20Is after Ravichandran Ashwin (52).

#3- Mahendra Singh Dhoni (37-ball 29-runs, 78.37 strike rate) played the third slowest innings for India of all the players playing more than 30 balls in an innings. Yuvraj Singh (32-balls, 14-runs, 43.75 strike rate) holds this unwanted record for his innings against Pakistan in Dhaka, 2016.

#4- It was only the fourth time any country has won a Twenty20I match against India on the last ball of the match.

# Mayank Markande became India's 79th player and Peter Handscomb became the 94th player to represent India and Australia in T20Is respectively. Both the players made their debut in today's match.

#1 It was the 1st time that two Twenty20 International matches (India - Australia, Visakhapatnam, and Afghanistan - Ireland, Dehradun) were played on the same day in India apart from the T20 world cup.
