After thrashing Australia in the ODI series and after a closely-fought T20I series, India will now look to continue their winning run against New Zealand in a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series with the first match taking place at the Wankhede Stadium on October 22.

Having cemented their place on top of the ICC rankings, they should probably look to try out a few new players and bring back a few old names for the series against the Kiwis.

Here are five cricketers who should be tried out for the ODI series:

#5 Shreyas Iyer

The 22-year-old youngster has been in sensational form over the past couple of years and would feel hard done by the fact that he has not yet got a chance to play for the Indian cricket team.

However, with his current form with the India A side who are taking on New Zealand A could lead to a call-up for the ODI series against the Blackcaps which begins on October 22.

In the four matches he played against New Zealand A, Iyer was the top run-getter with 317 runs to his name which included one century and two half-centuries. He was in sublime form against South Africa A as well in the series prior to the tour to New Zealand.

#4 Ravichandran Ashwin

New Zealand v India
Ashwin has not played an ODI since the Champions Trophy

The 31 year old offie is coming off a successful stint with Worcestershire in England's County Division and will be itching to make a comeback to the limited overs side.

He has hardly played ODIs over the past few years and has not been too effective in the few matches he has played. With the emergence of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, Ashwin's spot in the ODI side, Ashwin's importance in the ODI side seems to be losing importance.

However, with the World Cup coming up in a couple of years, Ashwin will look to get back into the thick of things and re-cement his place in the side.

#3 Ravindra Jadeja

India v West Indies - 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup
Jadeja will look to cement his place in the side once again

Just like Ashwin, India's no. 1 Test bowler is slowly losing his place in the limited overs side with the emergence of Kuldeep, Chahal, and all-rounder Axar Patel as well.

However, Jaddu, who has not performed too badly in the ODI format over the past few years will look to make a comeback to the side and send a stern message to the selectors.

He has not played a single match since the conclusion of the ODIs against West Indies. He was included in the squad for the first three ODIs against Australia after an injury to Axar Patel but did not get to play.

He will look to cement his place in the side once again if included in the squad against the Kiwis.

#2 Suresh Raina

India Training Session
Raina has been in poor form over the past few years

Having not played an ODI since 2015, Suresh Raina has had a forgetful two years. He has also come under the scanner for failing the BCCI's "yo-yo" fitness Test on a few occasions.

He seemed diffident in his technique over the past couple of years and is currently looking to re-brand himself and make a comeback to the Indian side.

He captained the India Blue side in the Duleep Trophy last month and while his side performed well, he scored just one half-century in three matches.

If given a chance with the Men in Blue, he will look to get back into his groove and establish himself as a dangerous batsman once again.

#1 Yuvraj Singh

India v Sri Lanka - ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 Final
This could be Yuvraj's last chance

One of the best ODI batsman India has produced, Yuvraj Singh's time seems to be running out quickly. In order to remain in contention right until the ICC World Cup in 2019, Yuvraj will have to make the most of any opportunity given to him.

He has had a topsy-turvy year so far and was dropped after the ODI series against West Indies.

With a lot of batsmen being tried out for the no. 4 position, Yuvraj will look to re-establish himself and cement his place in the side.

If given a chance, this might just be his last one with the number of youngsters making their way onto the big stage.
