India vs Sri Lanka 2017, 2nd T20I: Team India's probable XI

After winning the Test and ODI series against touring Sri Lanka, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series as well.

After posting a competitive total of 180/3 in 20 overs, the Rohit Sharma-led unit derailed Thisara Perera & Co.'s inning as the visitors crumbled under pressure and crashed at 87 in just 16 overs.

By beating Sri Lanka comprehensively by 93 runs at Cuttack on Wednesday, the Men in Blue recorded their biggest T20I win while batting first.

As the action now moves to Indore, here's our predicted XI for the 2nd T20I to be played on Friday, December 22.

#Openers

Rohit Sharma

The stand-in captain has been quite impressive with his razor-sharp leadership skills in the limited-over encounters against Sri Lanka.

Although he could not produce fireworks with his bat at the Barabati Stadium, owing to his 17-run innings, Rohit became the second Indian after Virat Kohli to score 1500 runs in T20Is.

The Hitman could not get a lot of runs under his belt on Wednesday but on his day, he can be the most destructive batsman in the shortest format of the game.

KL Rahul

<p>

India's regular opener Shikhar Dhawan has been rested for the ongoing series and that is why KL Rahul was sent out to open the innings with Rohit in the first T20I but the 25-year-old did not disappoint.

Rahul brought up his second T20I fifty as he played a splendid knock of 61 off 48 which enabled India to amass 180 in 20 overs.

#Middle Order and Wicket-keeper

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, who bats at number three in the absence of Virat Kohli, was exceptional in his debut ODI series against Sri Lanka as he scored back-to-back fifties and earned the batting spot in the 20-over format as well.

Shreyas played a handy cameo of 24 runs at Cuttack and was involved in a 63-run partnership with KL Rahul, that came at a crucial juncture of the game as it enabled the hosts to put up a handsome total on the board.

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni walked out to bat at number four on Wednesday and left the crowd at the Barabati Stadium awe-struck with his finishing skills.

The former India captain went after the loose deliveries and punished them as he produced the most-thrilling partnership of the game with Manish Pandey. The duo scored 65 from the last 5 overs to end the innings on a high.

Dhoni was phenomenal with his glovework too. For being involved in four dismissals on Wednesday, the 36-year-old went past AB de Villiers' record for most dismissals in 20-over international cricket, taking his tally to 74, one more than the South African's record.

Manish Pandey

The ongoing T20I series is probably the last shot for Manish Pandey to prove his mettle and become a batting mainstay in India's middle-order.

With Deepak Hooda in the squad, Rohit Sharma went in with Pandey and the 28-year-old earned himself another chance in the series with an unbeaten 18-ball 32 at a staggering strike rate of 177.78.

#All-rounders

Washington Sundar

Washinton Sundar, who made his ODI debut in the series against Sri Lanka owing to Kedar Jadhav's forced absence, is quite likely to make his T20I debut at Indore on Friday.

Tamil Nadu's opener in the shortest format of the game is quite dependable with the bat and can be a reliable off-break bowler for the hosts.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is an automatic choice in the playing XI for India when it comes to the shortest format of the game.

Although Pandya has not been at his best with the bat lately, his ability to chip in with a few overs makes him indispensable for the team.

Pandya did not get a chance to bat at Cuttack but he claimed three wickets in four overs and made up for being a bit expensive in his first over.

#Spinners

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was the wrecker-in-chief on Wednesday as he recorded figures of 4-23 and completely dominated Sri Lanka's batsmen.

The Man of the Match, who was completely unreadable by the visitors' batsmen, would be an obvious choice for the second T20I as well.

Kuldeep Yadav

With 2-18 in 4 overs, Kuldeep Yadav brilliantly assisted Yuzvendra Chahal in the total demolition of Sri Lanka's batsmen.

With Kuldeep and Chahal bowling in tandem, the visitors crumbled under the pressure and eventually crashed at 87 in an innings that lasted just 16 overs.

#Pacers

Jasprit Bumrah

One of the best death bowlers in the world right now, Bumrah will lead the Indian pace attack in the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar during the ongoing T20I series.

Although Bumrah could not be among the wickets at Cuttack as the wrist spinners ran the show, he is irreplaceable to this young Indian side.

Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat has had a bizarre International career so far. From making his Test debut back in 2010 to being sidelined for three years, to making a comeback now, his career has been nothing short of a rocky ride.

However, after having a sensational IPL 2016, Unadkat impressed in the first T20I with his control and variations and this series could well be the making of the player.
