IPL 2019: 3 most explosive innings of the season

T20 cricket is often said to be a batsman's game. And a high-scoring T20 match is everyone's favourite form of entertainment, with batsmen hitting the ball to all corners of the ground.

Ever since its inception, the Indian Premier League has gifted fans many high scoring thrillers, and IPL 2019 was no exception. There were plenty of occasions this season when the batsmen took on the opposition bowlers from the word go, and went on to play spectacular innings filled with big hits.

Here are 3 such explosive innings from IPL 2019 which blew the opposition attack away:

3. 114 (56 balls) by Jonny Bairstow against RCB

The SRH opener had a fabulous season this year, and smashed his maiden IPL ton against RCB. He along with David Warner tore apart the RCB bowling attack to help the team post a total of 231-2 in 20 overs.

Bairstow scored 114 runs from just 56 balls at a strike rate of 203.57, registering his highest IPL score in fine fashion and helping his team win the match by 118 runs. His innings contained 12 fours and 7 sixes, making it one of the most outstanding displays of the season.

2. 48* (13 balls) by Andre Russell against RCB

Just when the equation looked out of reach for Kolkata Knight Riders, needing 65 runs from 24 balls, Andre Russell happened. The destructive batsman took no time to take on the RCB bowlers, hitting them out of the park on almost every ball.

Russell finished with a lightning quick innings of 48 not out in just 13 balls at a strike rate of 369.23, clinching victory for KKR from the jaws of defeat by 5 wickets with 5 balls to spare. The innings contained 1 four and 7 sixes, making it one of the most explosive innings in the history of IPL.

1. 91 (34 balls) by Hardik Pandya against KKR

Chasing 233 runs from 20 overs, Mumbai Indians were reeling at 58-4, with the game slowly slipping out of their hands.That's when Hardik Pandya came out to the middle with the responsibility to bail his team out.

The junior Pandya never let the pressure get to him and soon started his assault on the KKR bowlers, tilting the game towards his side with every ball he faced. He scored 91 runs off just 34 balls at a strike rate of 267.65, in the course of which he smashed the fastest fifty of the season in just 17 balls. The innings comprised 6 fours and 9 sixes.

Although Hardik could not take his team over the finish line, it was such innings that will definitely be considered as a pure T20 knock, giving goosebumps whenever remembered.
