IPL Anchor Pallavi Sharda: All you need to know about her journey so far

Pallavi Sharda is the latest entrant in the IPL anchors pool

Actress Pallavi Sharda recently joined the IPL bandwagon as one of the new anchors for the “Extraaa Innings T20” preview and post-match analysis show. She, along with Rochelle Rao, has been roped in this season to replace Shibani Dandekar and Archana Vijaya, both of whom have pulled out of the 2016 tournament. Pallavi was born on 5 March 1988 in Perth, Australia and spent most of her early life there. Her father, Dr. Nalin Kant Sharda, is a Professor of Computer Science at Victoria University whereas her mother, Dr. Hema Sharda, is the Director of South Asian Relations at the University of Western Australia.

She completed all her education in the Australian city of Melbourne, starting with schooling at Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School to completing her LLB, BA in Media & Communications and Diploma in Modern Languages from the University of Melbourne. In the year 2010, Pallavi Sharda took part in the Miss India Australia beauty pageant held in Sydney and was crowned the winner. The 28-year old made a move to her country of origin in the same year as she shifted to Mumbai.

Sharda made her first plunge in Bollywood with a brief appearance in the popular Shah Rukh Khan-starrer flick, ‘My Name is Khan’. She bagged a lead role opposite veteran actor Manoj Bajpai in a 2010 comedy-drama film ‘Dus Tola’. Although the film did not perform at the box office, Pallavi was noted for her performance as the female protagonist. She has also acted in an Indo-American film named Walkaway, where she was part of an ensemble cast.

The newest IPL anchor has also appeared in an Australian film titled ‘Save Your Legs!’, where she played the role of an Indian girl named Anjali. The cricket-based film did not garner much in terms of earnings but did receive a positive review from the Sydney Morning Herald. Sharda’s Bollywood career continued with character roles in the films ‘Heroine’ and ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ before her big break came along as she was cast opposite superstar Ranbir Kapoor in the 2013 film ‘Besharam’.

Even though the film was a box office disaster, it remains Pallavi Sharda’s biggest claim to fame prior to the start of her Indian Premier League stint. Post that, she also played actor Ayushmann Khurana’s love interest in the 2015 biopic named Hawaizaada. Pallavi will next be seen in a 2016 Hollywood film, Lion, starring Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara. She will be rubbing shoulders with a few known Indian actors such as Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Deepti Naval.

When the announcement about her association with the IPL came about, Pallavi Sharda had confessed that she is a little nervous about it. However, she also expressed confidence that the buzz on the ground of her first match will take the jitters away. And from what one has seen of her in the Extraaa Innings T20 show, she seems to be doing a pretty decent job.
