James Anderson and Steve Smith involved in amusing incident during 2nd Ashes Test

It was a historic day in Adelaide as the first ever day-night Test of the Ashes began at the Adelaide Oval.

Having won the toss, England put Australia into bat. Cameron Bancroft was dismissed early on but David Warner and Usman Khawaja steadied the ship for the home side.

However, neither of them were able to convert their starts into a big score, with Warner being dismissed for 47 and Khawaja for 53.

Having scored one of the best centuries of his life in the first Test held at the Gabba, Steve Smith looked to carry on from where he left off.

He went about his innings in typical fashion and was looking to rattle the English bowlers. However, Joe Root's men had other things in mind and were constantly looking to irate Smith by getting under his nerve.

Root had decided to keep a short mid-on fielder when Smith came out to bat. The Aussie captain seemed quite flustered with this and was letting the English players know what he felt about the decision.

In the 57th over of the game, James Anderson was sent up to field at short mid-on and stood right next to Smith. The latter was irked at Anderson's movement and tried to get under his skin by giving him a piece of his mind.

This led to a small altercation between the two leading to Aleem Dar standing between them. Fortunately, it was just harmless banter and things didn't get ugly. In fact, it was quite hilarious to see the umpire try and calm things down between the two.

Smith wasn't able to do what he did in the first Test as he was dismissed to Ashes debutant Craig Overton soon after the incident.

However, Australia would be happy with their performance at the end of the day having scored 209 runs for the loss of four wickets with Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh looking comfortable at the crease.
