England's fast bowling legend James Anderson is among the surprise names in the IPL 2025 mega auction long list. The 42-year-old, who last played a T20 match in August 2014, has never featured in the IPL. The long list, which will be pruned following feedback from franchises, features 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas cricketers. The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 cricketers from Associate Nations.

While England's Test captain Ben Stokes has decided to opt out of the IPL 2025 auction, Anderson's move to register has surprised cricket fans. Even as the 42-year-old has registered his base price at ₹1.25 crore, another England fast bowler Jofra Archer has listed a base price of ₹2 crore.

A glance at James Anderson's record in T20s

Anderson played 19 T20I for England between January 2007 and November 2009, claiming 18 wickets at an average of 30.66 and an economy rate of 7.84, with a strike rate of 23.4. The right-arm pacer's best of 3-23 was registered against Netherlands at Lord's during the 2009 T20 World Cup. The Dutch, however, went on to win the thrilling contest by four wickets off the last ball.
