A memorable comeback to competitive cricket for Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami returned to competitive cricket on November 13 after almost a year during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy Elite Group C game between Bengal and Madhya Pradesh in Indore.
The 34-year-old speedster last seen in the India colours at the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad, underwent surgery for an Achilles tendon injury on his left leg in February this year.
It was a memorable comeback for Shami who troubled the Madhya Pradesh batters by picking up four wickets in the first innings. He followed it up with a three-wicket spell in the second innings to help Bengal script a thrilling 11-run victory. Shami also looked comfortable with the bat, playing a quick-fire 36-ball 37-run knock during Bengal's second innings.
Meanwhile, the ace Indian speedster has four wickets in five matches for Bengal at the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
