2021 champions Australia produced a sensational all-round performance against arch-rivals England in the crucial 2024 T20 World Cup encounter at Barbados on Saturday, June 8. After being asked to bat first, the Aussies raced to 70/1 in the first five overs, much to the shock of England.
Despite the Englishmen fighting back in the middle overs, the Aussies eventually posted a massive 201/7 in 20 overs. Australia also became the first team to cross the 200-run mark in the ongoing edition.
The bowlers then stepped up to the plate after England got off to a solid start of 73/0 in seven overs. Adam Zampa removed both openers, while Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins enjoyed a terrific outing with figures of 2/23 in four overs.
Australia finally restricted England to 165/6 in 20 overs and completed a 36-run victory. It was their second win in two games, taking them atop the Group B points table.
Fans on X were impressed by the Aussies' excellent showing against the defending champions.

Australia continued drawing praise from the fans with one saying:
"This T20 world cup is Australia's to lose. They have all the skills and damn players to win it."
"It was nice when the world cup was a 4-year-event. Putting Pakistani cricket fans through the wringer and giving the trophy to Australia every year seems particularly cruel," said a fan.
"Obviously, it had to be Australia to be the first team to hit 200 in this T20 World Cup," a fan tweeted.
"Very pleased with that effort, our all-round game is outstanding" - Mitchell Marsh
Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh was extremely pleased with the side's efforts with bat, ball, and in the field during their win against England.
It was only the Aussies' second win in the last eight T20I meetings against their arch-rivals.
"Very pleased with that effort, our all-round game is outstanding, it was a great game. The way we started, we learned a lot of lessons from the first game and the boys turned up really well today. The bowlers did their thing so well, we are an experienced team. Patty was outstanding. It was a tough end to bowl, wind was coming in. We need to keep learning from these conditions, keep improving, and keep progressing through the tournament," Marsh said at the post-match presentation.
The win means Australia now have one foot into the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. They will take on Namibia in their next encounter in Antigua on Tuesday, June 11.
