England's Liam Livingstone claimed his first wicket of the match by dismissing Steven Smith during the opening ODI of the five-match series against Australia on Thursday, September 19. The game is taking place at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
The dismissal occurred on the third ball of the 16th over. Livingstone delivered a tossed-up ball around the middle stump, and Smith attempted to flick it to the leg side. However, the ball spun and turned, resulting in a leading edge that went back to the bowler. Livingstone took a simple catch, kicking the ball into the air in celebration as England secured the crucial wicket of Steven Smith.
Here’s a video of the dismissal:
The 35-year-old scored 32 off 28 balls, including three sixes. Chasing 316, Australia were 152/2 after 24 overs at the time of writing, needing 164 to win, with Travis Head (82) and Cameron Green (22) at the crease.
