Welsh Fire pacer Shabnim Ismail cleaned up three London Spirit batters during the final of The Hundred Women’s Competition 2024 on Sunday, August 18, at Lord’s in London. However, Tammy Beaumont's team ended on the losing side as Deepti Sharma held her nerve to win the match for London Spirit.
Defending 116, the South African pacer gave it her all. Shabnim took three wickets in her 20 balls while conceding only 24 runs. She first dismissed Meg Lanning for four on the 12th ball. The right-arm pacer bowled a full delivery that shaped sharply and hit the middle stump.
Ismail got her second wicket in the form of Heather Knight, who was dismissed on the 56th ball. Knight was late on the shot as the ball beat the inside edge to hit the stumps. Ismail's third and final wicket came on the 71st ball when she dismissed Danielle Gibson with another brilliant delivery.

However, the game didn’t end well for the pacer, as she dropped a tough catch and the ball went over the ropes for a maximum, bringing glory to London Spirit.

Chasing a target of 116, London didn’t start well as they lost opener Meg Lanning (4) early. Her partner, Georgia Redmayne, played a decent innings of 34 off 32 balls. Captain Heather Knight scored 24 off 18 balls, and Danielle Gibson played a brilliant counter-attacking innings, scoring 22 off nine balls.
However, it all came down to the wire, with London needing four to win off three balls. Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma remained composed and smashed a maximum towards the mid-on area as London Spirit won the match by four wickets with two balls remaining.
Georgia Redmayne won the Player of the Match award as London Spirit lifted The Hundred Women’s 2024 title.
