Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was fired up as he gave an aggressive send-off to Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka during the final game of the three-match ODI series on Wednesday, August 7. The game took place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Riyan Parag got rid of Charith Asalanka on the last ball of the 38th over. The Sri Lankan skipper missed a straight ball as he tried to play it towards the leg side and was trapped in front of wickets.
As soon as the umpire raised his finger, Virat Kohli was pumped up and he moved in the direction of the batter while roaring in delight. This was Riyan Parag’s second wicket of the game.

The Sri Lankan captain had a poor outing as he only managed to score 10 off 12 balls. Asalanka’s wicket left his side at 183/3 after 38 overs.
Team India fights back in the all-important game
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the hosts got off to a brilliant start. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando stitched together an 89-run partnership off 119 deliveries before the former was dismissed by Axar Patel in the 20th over.
Along with Kusal Mendis, Avishka carried the momentum and put up an 82-run stand in 94 balls for the second wicket. Avishka missed a well-deserved century by four runs; he became the first wicket of debutant Riyan Parag.
The Indian bowlers then came back strongly as Sri Lanka lost wickets in quick succession, going from 171/1 to 199/6. Kusal Mendis scored 59 runs while a decent cameo from Kamindu Mendis (23 off 19 balls) helped Sri Lanka finish at 248/7 in 50 overs.
For India, off-spinner Riyan Parag took three wickets. The Indian batters will need to bring their A-game in the second innings to tie the series 1-1.
