Next T20 World Cup to be hosted in Australia in 2020: Virat Kohli

With all hopes shattered for 1.3 billion Indians after their team’s exit from the tournament in semi-finals against Windies, fans must be figuring out when is the next T20 World Cup. Since the inception of T20 World Cup in 2007, the tournament was being played every 2 years. ICC has now changed this and planned to keep the interval 4 years similar to 50 Overs World Cup. There were speculations about Australia and New Zealand jointly hosting the World Cup like they did in 1992 and 2015, but then later confirmed that only Australia will host this grand tournament.

This will be the first time Australia will be hosting T20 World Cup. This will be the 7th edition of this highly successful ICC tournament which inaugurated in 2007 in South Africa. ICC has planned to scale it further by giving equal opportunities to associate teams.

ICC has decided to include only Top 10 teams in 2019 ODI World Cup which is to be hosted in England. However, ICC has given a better chance now to the associates going back to 16 teams tournament format, which will include quarter-final stage as well.

Australia, England, India, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Zimbabwe, UAE, Netherlands, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Ireland.
