England

1. Jason Roy – 7/10

He got England off to a decent start by attacking Bhuvi but could not convert the good start into a huge score.

2. Jos Buttler – 9/10

Yet again Buttler was the chief destroyer for the England batting lineup. But he did not get much assistance from another end and lost a wicket to Kuldeep.

3. Alex Hales – 3/10

This was a poor knock from Hales. He did not look in great touch and never got going and was castled by Kuldeep.

4. Jonny Bairstow – 2/10

It was a golden duck for Bairstow. This was a very rare occasion of him contributing nothing to his team and he would surely want to do more in the next match.

5. Joe Root – 2/10

He also got out for a golden duck as he failed to read the googly bowled by Kuldeep. He is England’s best player of spin and England’s hopes of winning this series rests on him.

6. Eoin Morgan – 4/10

He took a good catch to dismiss Rohit but his captaincy was pretty ineffective as there were not many runs on the board for the bowlers to defend,

7. Moeen Ali – 2/10

Though he did not bowl many wrong deliveries, he went for 37 runs simply because of the sheer brilliance of Rahul. He has to rectify his length a little bit to contain the Indian batsmen.

8. David Willey – 8/10

He played a wonderful cameo coming in at number 8 and got out Dhawan early in the run chase. He was England’s best all-around contributor in this match

9. Adil Rashid – 8/10

He bowled a quality spell where he used all his experience to contain Rahul and picked up Rohit Sharma’s wicket. He bowled simple line and length throughout his spell and Moeen Ali can learn a thing or two from him.

10. Chris Jordan – 7.5/10

He bowled a decent line and length and was economical throughout his spell.

11. Liam Plunkett – 4/10

He was pretty expensive today. The 11th over he bowled where Rahul tore him apart completely shifted the momentum in India’s favour and England could never recover from it.
