No contribution from the lower middle-order
There was no substantial contribution from the lower middle-order comprising of Pandya, Pant and Ashwin.
Pandya's role in the Test team will bound to come up for discussion once again. He was rarely used in the match though he got the prized wicket of Cook in the first innings. His contribution with the bat was negligible. Pant does look like that he is not ready for Test cricket. He has a one-dimensional play and lacks solid defence which is vital in Test cricket.
