The Indian Premier League has come a long way since its inception in 2008.The League is currently now in its 11th edition and has witnessed a plethora of path-breaking changes and innovations on and off the field.

This year we have already witnessed a multitude of records being broken, most prominent being Rahul's fastest fifty in the history of the IPL (50 off 13 balls), and Rashid Khan's feat of bowling the most number of dot balls in an innings (18).

However, there are still a plethora of records from the opening season of the IPL that are yet to be broken. In this blog today, let us go down memory lane to recollect some of the records that are yet to be broken to date.

Here's the compilation:

#4 Most number of catches by a fielder in an innings

During the encounter between Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2008 edition of the Indian Premier League, the then MI skipper Sachin Tendulkar recorded four catches as an outfielder.

Tendulkar accounted for Salman Butt, Wriddiman Saha, Shoaib Akhtar and Ajit Agarkar. While David Warner in 2010 and Jacques Kallis in 2011 equaled the Master Blaster's record, it is yet to break to date.

#3 Best bowling figures

The 2008 edition of the IPL unearthed another left-arm fast bowling talent from Pakistan, Sohail Tanvir. The tall left-arm slinger, Tanvir, was a standout performer who played a pivotal role in Rajasthan Royals season clinching feat.

Tanvir, who won the purple cap in the inaugural season, testified his talent to the hilt when he knocked over the Chennai Super Kings with a barely believable spell of 6-14. It was Tanvir's spell that helped Rajasthan Royals to bowl CSK out for a mere 109, and his 6-14 in 4 overs still remains the best bowling performance in the IPL.

Only one bowler till date has equaled Tanvir's record of claiming a 6-wicket haul in an IPL match- Adam Zampa for the Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016 edition, where the leggie claimed 6-19 against the eventual champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.

#2 KKR Lowest team total and Mumbai's record win

In a game where Sachin Tendulkar created the record of most number of catches by a fielder, the Kolkata Knight Riders too created a record, though an unwarranted one.

In an insipid batting display, the Knight Riders were bowled out for a mere 67, which to date remains their lowest team total. Moreover, to rub salt to the wounds, MI batting, spearheaded by a belligerent Sanath Jayasuriya, chased down the target in a mere 5.3 overs. They won the match with 87 balls to spare, which remains a record till date.

#1 Highest succesfull run-chase

Over the years in the IPL, we have seen breathtaking run-chases by teams, but none comes close to what Rajasthan Royals achieved back in 2008.

The Royals were playing the Deccan Chargers at Hyderabad when on the back of a belligerent 117 by Andrew Symonds, they were set an improbable 215 runs to win the match. But on the back of Smith (71), Pathan (61), and some lusty blows by skipper Warne (22 off 9 balls) in the end, Rajasthan managed to overcome the odds and pull off a sensational heist.

There have been 9 successful run chase of 200 or more in the history of the IPL, but none has managed to breach the 215 mark set by the Royals way back in '08.
