Video: Was this Dhoni's first ever helicopter shot?

Mention the word ‘Helicopter’ in Cricket, and your focus will turn towards one man, MS Dhoni. Even though there are others who have attempted this shot before him and after him, because of the fact that he executes it perfectly, the fans have always associated this shot with him.

Over the years, we have seen some remarkable ‘Helicopters’ launched by Dhoni, but how did this all begin? When was the first time he executed it to perfection in international cricket? It is believed to be in 2006 during the home series against England since we didn’t really see something as extravagant as this in 2005 when he announced himself in international cricket.

It was the 3rd ODI of the series and India were batting first. Dhoni came onto bat in the 48th over and in the very next over James Anderson was at the receiving end of this unique shot. Incidentally, his CSK teammate Suresh Raina was the non-striker.
