The South Africa Women’s cricket team are currently in the West Indies for a series of three ODIs and three T20Is. The tour will kick off with the ODI series from Wednesday, June 11 onwards, before the action shifts to the truncated format between June 20 and June 23. All six matches will be hosted by the Three Ws Oval in Cave Hill, Barbados.
In ODIs, the two nations last crossed paths during their four-match series in South Africa in February 2022. The hosts won that series by a 2-1 margin. In T20Is, South Africa and West Indies women last faced each other during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai, where the former secured a comprehensive 10-wicket win.
For the upcoming ODI and T20I series, both Cricket West Indies and Cricket South Africa announced composite squads. While charismatic all-rounder Hayley Matthews will lead the hosts, prolific South African opener Laura Wolvaardt will captain the visiting party.

In the latest ICC Women’s ODI team rankings, South Africa and West Indies occupy fifth and ninth positions, respectively. In T20Is, just four rating points separate the Proteas and the Caribbean Women at number five and number six, respectively.
The West Indies women’s team recently suffered an identical 0-3 thrashing at the hands of hosts England in both T20I and ODI series between May 21 and June 7.
The South African team, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the final of the ODI tri-series in Colombo against India and hosts Sri Lanka, as they lost three out of four matches.
