Why the Indian Cricket Team is in a fix

The Indian Cricket Team has been struggling to get a foothold in the on-going World T20 in Sri Lanka. Let’s take a look at why that’s happening.

The Batting:-

The Indian batting line up looks formidable on paper, but it’s been under-performing on the field. Under-performing being an understatement. The final score depends on whether Virat Kohli or Suresh Raina fires which is surprising because the line-up consists of the likes of Virender Sehwag and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The Indians have to do something about their standard of batting otherwise, they will struggle in the future. Our line-up needs players of the stature of David Warner or Shane Watson or Michael Clarke.

The Bowling:-

The Indian bowlers have, to save the least, been struggling in recent times. With the likes of Zaheer Khan and Ashwin not able to take wickets, the team has been depending on arguably the best player of our tournament so far, Yuvraj Singh to take wickets. India needs a wicket-taker, a predator like a Dale Steyn or a Morne Morkel to get them wickets to restrict the opponents to a low score.

The Fielding:-

Fielding has become an integral part of cricket because the margin of victories have come down and every run counts. When watching matches, you notice the Australians and South Africans diving all over the place and putting their bodies on the line just to save a few runs which end up making the difference in the end. Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh are the only fielders you’ll se diving around and saving runs. So, the standard of fielding has got to improve too.

The Politics:-

The politics inside the dressing room and outside it aren’t helping the performances. With Virender Sehwag bunking training sessions like they’re high-school history classes and selectors changing every few months, the team is becoming slightly unstable. This has got to stop.

All these factors contributed to our humiliating 9 wicket loss to Australia. Things have to change for India to play on the world stage.
