The biggest rivalry in World Cricket is obviously between India and Pakistan and it needs no introduction. India, two-time World Champions have always defeated Pakistan in the World Cup. The very first instance when India faced their neighbours Pakistan in the World Cup was in WC 1992. Pakistan could not manage to beat India but they went on to lift the World Cup trophy in the same edition.

Both the teams have played against each other six times since then (1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015) and India has thrashed Men in Green every single time. Also, these sides have played against each other only twice in knock-outs in the World Cup. India won against Pakistan by 29 runs in the semi-final game of World Cup 2011. Pakistan lost to India in 1996 Quarterfinals. by 39 runs.

In the World Cup 2003, the 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar who possesses great record against Pakistan played a wonderful knock of 98 runs off just 75 balls against the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis, and Wasim Akram while chasing a good total of 274 runs.
