The 4-3-3(2) or 4-3-3 Holding is one of the most popular formations used by EA FC 25 players. EA Sports removed previous player instructions like “stay back while attacking,” “Stick to position,” “get in behind,” and “normal interceptions” from FC 25, replaced it with FC IQ to utilize each player with more realistic roles like “Box-to-Box,” “Deep-Lying Playmaker,” and “Inside Forward.”
The new FC IQ system greatly impacted how you use 4-3-3(2) in the game. With the evolving in-game meta, the tactic might be outdated at this point in time. However, it is still preferred my many players due to its dynamism. With more players who joined the game recently would find it easy to play using this classic football tactics. So, here are the best 4-3-3(2) custom tactics to use in EA FC 25.

Insight about 4-3-3 Holding formation
Before knowing the best custom tactics, you must get to know about this 4-3-3(2) formation. It is a variant of the standard 4-3-3 setup, where you have one striker leading the attack with two wingers on both flanks. While the defense consists of two center backs paired with full backs on both flanks.
It is the midfield where this formation deviates from the traditional 4-3-3. While the later has three center midfielders, the 4-3-3 Holding has two center midfileders along with a defensive midfielder. Due to the formation’s dynamism, various renowded clubs and national teams like Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Argentina, and Spain use this 4-3-3(2) formation in-game by default.
Best custom tactics to use for 4-3-3(2) formation in EA FC 25

Now that you know about the 4-3-3 Holding formation, let’s see the best custom tactics to dominate in EA FC 25.
- ST: Advanced Forward (Attack)
- LW: Inside Forward (Attack)
- RW: Inside Forward (Attack)
- CMs: Box-to-Box (Balanced)
- CDM: Deep-Lying Playmaker (Defend)
- LB: Wingback (Balanced)
- RB: Fullback (Balanced)
- CBs: Defender (Defend)
- GK: Goalkeeper (Balanced)
The optimal Build-Up style for the 4-3-3(2) must be set to Counter and Defensive Approach should be High so the team focuses on counter-attacking opportunities.
Talking about the forward line, three attackers overload the opposition’s defense and compact midfield. Meanwhile, the Box-to-Box midfielders prevent the CDM from being overrun in transition. As for the CDM, he/she builds up the play from defense when attacking and drop down to defend.

The left back plays as a Wingback, so is capable of joinining the attack when possible but would primarily be focused on defending. Meanwhile, the right back plays as a Fullback to provide defensive stability on the right and only overlap sparingly.
As for both centerbacks, they act as the classic Defenders who stay deep and clear threats. Lastly, the goalkeeper should be assigned to the classic Goalkeeper role, who stays on the line and avoid risky clearances.
That sums up the best 4-3-3(2) custom tactics that would help you win matches. You are free to use any role and focus based on your preference but you would get to best exploit the current EA FC 25 meta.
