The Ginger Island's Mermaid puzzle can be pretty difficult, as it demands journeying to a particular spot under specific weather conditions. Furthermore, you need to collect various items to solve the puzzle.

Here are the required steps to complete Ginger Island Mermaid's puzzle in Stardew Valley:

1) Finding the Journal Scrap 9

The Journal Scraps in Stardew Valley serve as your guides to many puzzles scattered around the island, including the Mermaid puzzle. Each Journal Scrap can be found in sequential order, from 1 to 11. Notably, Journal Scrap 9 features the Mermaid puzzle.

You can find the Journal Scraps in various ways, such as by breaking rocks, reeling in fish, killing monsters, or cutting trees and weeds.

2) Unlocking the Ginger Island Pirate's Cove

If you want to access the puzzle, you must visit the Mermaid located in an area on Ginger Island called the Pirate's Cove. Notably, this place is not accessible right away when you arrive at Ginger Island.

To access the Pirate's Cove, you need to complete the following tasks:

  • Go to Leo's Hut and give the parrot a Golden Walnut.
  • Awaken the sleeping turtle by giving it 10 Golden Walnuts. Subsequently, it will unlock Island West.
  • Give 20 Golden Walnuts to the parrot located by the broken Farmhouse. It will repair the Farmhouse.
  • Give 20 Golden Walnuts to the parrot situated on the central beach. It will build the Island Beach Resort.

After the Beach Resort is built, you can journey to the Pirate's Cove. This path can be found east of where the boat docks at the far south end of the beach; it leads through a mostly desolate shoreline with rocks.

3) Flute Blocks

It's required to carry five Flute Blocks to solve the Ginger Island Mermaid's puzzle in Stardew Valley. To acquire a Flute Block recipe, you need six hearts of friendship with Robin, the carpenter. Subsequently, she will send the recipe via mail.

The following items are needed to craft a Flute Block:

  • 10 Wood
  • Two Copper Ore
  • 20 Fiber

Interestingly, you can receive one free Flute Block from Gunther, the Museum Curator by donating the Bone Flute to the museum.

After collecting all five Flute Blocks, go to the Pirate's Cove beach when it's raining. This is because the Mermaid only shows up when it's raining.

At the shoreline, observe five distinct rock clusters aligned with a single rock bearing a musical note. You have to place the Flute Blocks next to each rock cluster.

Then, hit on each rock cluster the following times (from left to right):

  • 2
  • 11
  • 9
  • 5
  • 7

Upon hitting the blocks, step onto the leftmost rock and walk past them once. Then, the melody of the Mermaid's song will resonate, and the puzzle will be solved. Finally, you will be rewarded with five Golden Walnuts in Stardew Valley.
