With the help of this Overwatch 2 Tank tier list, players can better understand how each Tank hero fares compared to the others. Tanks are the backbone of any team in Blizzard's hero-shooter game, and having the proper Tank character greatly depends on the team composition you are running with.
Although not all Tanks are universally usable, some perform better when compared to others in most scenarios. This Overwatch 2 Tank tier list places all heroes of this role in different categories based on the current Tank meta and a few other criteria.

Overwatch 2 Tank tier list
Overwatch 2 features various team compositions, such as a dive comp, a brawl comp, or even a poke comp. Some tanks perform better in specific comps, whereas others offer more versatility.
In Season 10's Overwatch 2 Tank tier list, we have separated all 12 Tanks into four categories: S, A, B, C, and D, based on their versatility, team synergization, damage output, and sustainability.
S-tier
For the S-tier, we have the following Tank heroes:
- Winston
- Sigma
Winston has been one of the most notorious Tanks in Overwatch 2, thanks to his ability to dive in, shield himself in a bubble, and scatter the enemy backline to cause absolute mayhem. Although ideally a dive-comp expert, Winston can fit in any other composition, enabling his team to utilize the distraction and jump in. Winston does splash damage, and a well-coordinated team backing him up makes him very difficult to deal with.
The most universal Tank in Overwatch 2 is probably Sigma. He can shield, deal significant poke damage, and absorb enemies' attacks to sustain himself. With the recent Tank buffs, Sigma's ultimate mechanic has changed, giving him even more versatility. To add to his strengths, he can throw a giant rock to stun you, which cancels out most other heroes' ultimates.
A-tier
The A-tier has four heroes:
- Ramattra
- Wrecking Ball
- Zarya
- Orisa
Ramattra, Wrecking Ball, Zarya, and Orisa land in your A-tier owing to their well-roundedness. They can dish out punishment (Ramattra's Nemesis form, Wrecking Ball's piledriver, Zarya's scaling damage, Orisa's brawling) while having mobility (Wrecking Ball, Orisa) and disruption (Ramattra's Annihilation, Zarya's Graviton Surge) to control the battlefield.
They also synergize well with various teammates (Zarya with high-damage heroes, Wrecking Ball with flankers, Ramattra's area denial protecting allies, and Orisa's Fortify blocking key abilities), making them strong A-tier picks.
B-tier
Similar to the A-tier, we also have four entries in the B-tier:
- Mauga
- Doomfist
- Junker Queen
- Roadhog
Mauga, Doomfist, Junker Queen, and Roadhog place at B-tier in this Overwatch 2 Tank tier list. Mauga's high damage output and Junker Queen's self-sustaining abilities make them brawling threats. Roadhog and Doomfist in Overwatch 2 can disrupt enemies with their dives and hooks, potentially creating picks.
However, they might lack the consistency or survivability of the higher tiers. Most Tanks in this category have large hitboxes, making them an easy target for spammy DPS enemies to peel away. Despite having a comparatively lesser hitbox, Junker Queen has a lower health pool, which can be disastrous during brawls.
C-tier
The only Tank in this tier is:
- D.Va
The Korean gamer-girl with her mech is the only resident of the C-tier in this Overwatch 2 Tank tier list. While she has her strengths, some aspects might hold her back in the current Overwatch 2 meta. D.Va's Defense Matrix, a powerful tool for absorbing enemy projectiles, is less effective against the increased damage output across the board.
Additionally, her reliance on peeling for teammates and her survivability being tied to her mech can make her vulnerable if her mech gets destroyed and she's left in her pilot form. D.Va in Overwatch 2 is mostly an extremely situational pick in the current meta.
D-tier
The last tier also has only one entry:
- Reinhardt
Reinhardt finds himself in a tough spot in the D-tier of this Overwatch 2 Tank tier list. The current meta heavily favors mobility and shields that can be adapted to changing situations. While Reinhardt's Charge and Earthshatter are powerful damaging tools, he can be countered very easily by a plethora of other Heroes.
Although a skilled Reinhardt player can still be a menace, his overall kit might struggle to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the current game.
