#4 2008 - Redemption win for Kubica

Between the 2007 and 2008 editions of the Canadian Grand Prix, it was quite a 12 months for Robert Kubica.

The Polish driver experienced an almighty crash in Montreal in 2007 when he lost control of his BMW Sauber failing to avoid colliding with barriers to then fly across the track.

This would see his car in pieces and remarkably Kubica didn't suffer any serious injuries.

Racing has its cons

Kubica's colleagues in the garage were left stunned moments after the crash. Their Polish racer was very lucky.

12 months later, Kubica was ready to take on Montreal once more in a much more competitive BMW Sauber.

At the start of the 2008 season, BMW Sauber were tipped to be one of the favourites for both the Driver's and Constructors' Championships.

So as well as Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and Ferrari's Felipe Massa going head to head throughout the year, there were glimpses of Kubica and his teammate Nick Heidfeld.

Despite getting many podium finishes, Kubica had never won an F1 race before.

The 2008 Canadian Grand Prix was a perfect time for him to do it after the events of the same race events in 2007.

A little bit of luck was needed when Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen clashed at the exit of the pits.

This rewarded Kubica the race lead and would go onto claim his first win in F1 completing a redemption win.

It would be Kubica's only race win to date but what a race to win.
