The Singapore Grand Prix usually takes a heavy toll on drivers' health, and the recently concluded race at Marina Bay Circuit was no different for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Hamilton and Russell complained about the extreme temperatures while racing in the Asian country and reports surfaced that they suffered heat stroke during the race weekend. However, the Singapore GP winner Lando Norris snubbed the claim.
The Singapore GP race is considered one of the most grueling races in the F1 calendar. The track temperature during the race can reach up to 104° F during the race and the cockpit feels like a sauna, as mentioned by Russell during the race.
The humidity can reach up to 90 percent, and drivers can lose up to four kilograms of weight during the nearly two hours of the race. Besides this, the bumpy and closer track makes it difficult for drivers to navigate through. In a nutshell, the Marina Bay Circuit race is indeed very demanding for drivers physically, something Mercedes boss Toto Wolff emphasized after the race.
However, this did not go down well with Norris, who was seemingly dismissive of the 'exaggeration' by the Mercedes honcho. During one of his recent simulator racing sessions on Twitch, the McLaren star hit out at the Austrian boss. He said:
"Toto Wolff issues health update on Hamilton and Russell? Fuc***g hell, it’s tough for everyone. Why do they think that they’ve... Everyone’s got heatstroke if they’ve got heatstroke."
While Norris went on to take the victory from pole position, the day ended on a bitter note for Mercedes drivers. George Russell started his race from P4 and barely managed to hold on to his place from a brilliant Charles Leclerc who kept charging the Briton till the very last lap.
Lewis Hamilton had a disappointing outing in Singapore as the seven-time world champion started his race from P3 but ended up in P6. The Briton lost three places to Oscar Piastri, his teammate Russell, and Ferrari's Leclerc.
What did Toto Wolff say about Lewis Hamilton and George Russell?

Following the conclusion of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, Toto Wolff shared an update about his drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. He revealed that both drivers suffered from "overheating" during the race.
"They are both suffering from the overheating," Wolff said as per Sky Sports F1. "But they are fine now. They put themselves in an ice bath and I think that helped a bit."
As both Hamilton and Russell suffered from overheating in the Marina Bay Circuit race, they missed their post-race media duties and interaction.
