Fans were surprised and displeased after Charles Leclerc's elimination from Q2 during the 2024 F1 British GP qualifying session. His teammate, Carlos Sainz, though, was able to make it to Q3.

Leclerc placed himself within the top 10 after taking the chequered flag; however, Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll were still on their final laps. The two drivers were able to make it out of the disqualification zone, and that pushed the Ferrari down to P11. He will be starting the race from that position unless there is a change in the grid order because of a penalty.

Leclerc's performance since the Monaco Grand Prix has been more or less on a downhill slope. He was P11 in Canada and P5 in Spain.

Ferrari's fans were not too happy with the qualifying results. One user even mentioned the "Monaco curse," claiming that it had affected his performance in the qualifying rounds ever since the victory in Monaco.

Some fans also questioned Ferrari's choice for the 2025 season, as they are set to replace Sainz with Lewis Hamilton. Meanwhile, Leclerc has a multi-year deal signed with the team.

"So, Ferrari are dropping Sainz," a fan wrote.

There were plenty of sarcastic reactions regarding the same.

2024 F1 British GP weekend looking tougher for Ferrari as Leclerc's predictions seem right

Prior to the qualifying session, Leclerc, the Monegasque driver, spoke about the teams' performances at Silverstone. Despite the Italian team's early form in the season, Leclerc did not sound too confident with the car.

Initially, while Red Bull was still at the top, clinching victories effortlessly, Ferrari had gotten quite close to competing with the team. Along with them was McLaren, and the two teams managed to win quite a few races earlier. However, Ferrari has seemingly dropped out of contention as Mercedes' pace has grown strong. Charles Leclerc had also previously discounted Ferrari's chances of contending for a victory at Silverstone.

“I don’t feel like it’s the case, personally,” he said when asked if Ferrari could battle for a victory.
“Unfortunately it feels like Red Bull and McLaren are a long way ahead this weekend but let’s wait and see, I hope I’m wrong,” he added.

Mercedes secured the front row at the conclusion of the qualifying session, demonstrating their return to form on the track. George Russell set himself in pole position, while Lewis Hamilton qualified in P2.

Ferrari's other driver, Sainz, will begin the race from P7 unless there is a grid penalty for any driver.
