F1 fans shared their thoughts after FIA steward Derek Warwick expressed that he believed that Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton deserved an eighth world championship in the sport. The seven-time F1 world champion has only won two races in the last three completed seasons in the sport and struggled to keep his high level of performance in the ground-effect era of cars. The British driver came agonizingly close to winning an elusive eighth world championship in 2021 but was defeated by Red Bull driver Max Verstappen on the final lap of the season finale in Abu Dhabi in controversial fashion.Warwick, who is a former F1 driver and currently works as a race steward, weighed in on his thoughts that Lewis Hamilton deserves an eighth world title while commenting on his recent struggles with Ferrari and said:“Do I want Lewis to win races and challenge for the World Championship? Yes. I think he deserves it. I think he deserves that eighth world title. It’s not going to happen this year. And I think if it carries on the way it is at the minute, I suspect he’s already thinking of stopping.“I don’t see him running half a second behind Charles, and also running in sixth, seventh, and eighth place. He’s had enough of that for the last three years, with Mercedes, so he needs to get a bit of confidence back. In China, when he won the sprint race, I thought that was the turning point, but the car’s still not to his liking.” (via PlanetF1)F1 fans took to social media to give their reactions to Derek Warwick's comments on X, with one fan claiming:"There has ALWAYS been a British bias in the F1 officiating ranks, UNFORTUNATELY!!!"Bikramaditya Biswas @bikramadityaLINKThere has ALWAYS been a British bias in the F1 officiating ranks, UNFORTUNATELY!!!"Derek was part of the stewards team that cheated Lewis out off his 8th title…."Stefanie @fastpitstopLINKDerek was part of the stewards team that cheated Lewis out off his 8th title….Here are some more reactions:"Yeah there’s no bias at all," said a fan."I don't think they should be allowed to make comment on this and remain neutral maintaining high professionalism," wrote a fan."Removal from being a steward, is in order," claimed another."Is Derek British?
