Formula 1 driver Lando Norris and Miami Heat basketball player Jimmy Butler were among the enthusiastic supporters cheering on Carlos Alcaraz as he won his second consecutive Wimbledon Championship. Alcaraz beat Serbian legend Novak Djokovic in straight sets to clinch his fourth Grand Slam title.
McLaren ace Lando Norris is a known enthusiast of a multitude of sports. The 24-year-old driver, who captured his first-ever Formula 1 win this season in Miami, has often made his presence felt across various sporting events, be it NBA or Football.
As the most prestigious tennis tournament, the Wimbledon Championship, got underway, Norris once again made sure to keep a close eye on the action. He recently shared an Instagram story with NBA star Jimmy Butler, expressing their shared excitement for Alcaraz.
Sharing the enthusiasm, Butler, the $80 million Miami Heat star (according to Celebrity Net Worth), also posted numerous Instagram stories featuring Lando Norris. In the video, Butler congratulated Alcaraz with an enthusiastic “Vamos." He stated:
"Two in a row, Carlitos. Hell yeah! We talked about this, we talked about this."
Meanwhile, Norris’ McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, also expressed his admiration for Alcaraz’s win. Piastri retweeted Wimbledon’s post with the following comment:
"How good is @carlosalcaraz?"
Alcaraz's win, which was his fourth Grand Slam title, came against seven-time Wimbledon champion and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic. The match, that lasted under three hours, ended with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. Alcaraz clinched his second successive Grand Slam of the year after winning the French Open.
Lando Norris watches from the stands as England National Team loses second straight Euro final
While Norris enjoyed Alcaraz's Wimbledon triumph, his weekend also included a bittersweet moment as he watched the England National Team lose their second consecutive UEFA Euro Championship final.
The Three Lions, led by Gareth Southgate, had reached the final after a dramatic injury-time winner from Ollie Watkins against the Netherlands. Following the win, the McLaren driver had stated (via GPBlogs):
"I just let them do their thing. I'm sure for anyone in any sport, as soon as you have people trying to tell you what to do, it's not a nice thing. I just wish them the best."
However, it wasn't meant to be for England a second straight time. Three years after bowing out to Italy in the final of Euro 2020, their hopes were once again dashed, this time by Spain, who secured a 2-1 victory in the final. Lando Norris watched the game unfold right in front of his eyes as he was in attendance at the Olympiastadion Berlin.
Lando Norris is set to compete in the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix on July 21. He currently ranks second in the F1 drivers' standings, behind reigning champion Max Verstappen.
