The final round-robin game of CPL 2019 sees two of the best face off against each other, as Guyana Amazon Warriors host Trinbago Knight Riders. While both teams have already made it into the playoffs, only Guyana are assured of a place in the top two.
Both teams did start off quite brightly, although Trinbago's poor run of late has costed them dearly. Nevertheless, a top-two finish is still in their sights with a win at the Providence Ground assuring them of the same. With the likes of Colin Munro and Shimron Hetmyer taking it to the field for one last time in the league stage, an exciting contest with a lot at stake for the defending champions awaits. Here are a few tips to help you pick your Dream11 team.
Squads to choose from:
Guyana Amazon Warriors:
Chris Green, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Shoaib Malik (C), Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Ben Laughlin, Shadab Khan, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Brandon King, Imran Tahir, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Keagan Simmons, Veerasammy Permaul, Anthony Bramble, Clinton Pestano and Saurabh Netrawalkar.
Trinbago Knight Riders:
Kieron Pollard (C), Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, Denesh Ramdin, Mohd Hasnain, Khary Pierre, James Neesham, Seekuge Prasanna, Amir Jangoo, Anderson Phillip, Mark Deyal, Tion Webster, Javon Searles, Akeal Hossain and Ali Khan
Playing XI Updates:
Guyana Amazon Warriors:
They should field their strongest side to fine-tune their skills ahead of the playoffs. Brandon King and Chanderpaul Hemraj have exceeded expectations at the top of the order with the openers doing the bulk of the scoring. This has given freedom to Nicolas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and even Sherfane Rutherford to go big from ball one. Their bowling unit has been exceptional with Chris Green's tally of twelve wickets being second to only Hayden Walsh's haul in CPL 2019. Against a formidable Trinbago batting unit, the likes of Green and Tahir will be key to their fortunes.
Possible XI: King, Hemraj, Hetmyer, Malik(C), Pooran(WK), Rutherford, Green, Paul, Shepherd, Tahir and Laughlin
Trinbago Knight Riders:
Although they are in the midst of losing streak, not many changes are expected from the defending champions. If passed fit for this game, Sunil Narine should slot into the side for Mark Deyal. Their bowling unit hasn't fired in recent games with USA pacer, Ali Khan in woeful form. The onus will be upon Barbados native, Chris Jordan to shore up the bowling department and provide the goods in their fight for a top-two finish on Saturday.
Possible XI: Narine/Deyal, Simmons, Munro, Pollard (C), Ramdin (WK), Darren Bravo, Neesham, Jordan, Pierre, Searles and Ali Khan
Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Trinbago Knight Riders, Match 30
5th October 2019, 5:30 AM IST
Providence Stadium, Guyana
The Providence Stadium is generally a chasing wicket with the pitch slowing down considerably as the game progresses. Scores of 160-170 are a common sight with the powerplay overs being crucial to the context of the outcome.
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:
Wicket-keeper: With Denesh Ramdin batting too deep down the order, the only viable option is Nicolas Pooran. Although he hasn't been required as much, Pooran is well and truly capable of scoring big and quick runs towards the end of the innings.
Batsmen: While Shimron Hetmyer is a must-have in the fantasy team, the likes of Colin Munro and Lendl Simmons, who have some runs under their belt in CPL 2019 are worthwhile options as well. Kieron Pollard is in decent form as well and could fill in as the fourth pick. One of Chanderpaul Hemraj or Brandon King should suffice as second Guyana option for this game.
Allrounders: Shoaib Malik and Jimmy Neesham have played their role to perfection with vital runs and wickets to their credit in CPL 2019. If picked in the side, Sunil Narine is also a decent addition while Keemo Paul could be picked for his wicket-taking ability.
Bowlers: Chris Green and Imran Tahir have forged a tremendous partnership with the ball for Guyana. Both of them are must-have picks for this game along with Khary Pierre, who should pick a wicket or two with the amount of spin on offer. As for the final selection, one of Chris Jordan or Ali Khan should do the trick.
Captain: Colin Munro hasn't fired since his first CPL 2019 outing against Jamaica Tallawahs. He is due for a big one and couldn't have asked for a better occasion. Along with the burly Kiwi, the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Kieron Pollard also fit the bill for captaincy.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Nicolas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Colin Munro, Keemo Paul, Jimmy Neesham, Chris Green, Imran Tahir, Khary Pierre and Chris Jordan. Captain: Shimron Hetmyer, Vice-Captain: Colin Munro
Fantasy Suggestion #2: Nicolas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons, Colin Munro, Shimron Hetmyer, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shoaib Malik, Chris Green, Imran Tahir, Khary Pierre and Ali Khan. Captain: Colin Munro, Vice-Captain: Kieron Pollard
