The Portuguese international is undoubtedly the most famous person born on 5 February but it also the day on which some famous footballers were born.

The midfielder who has three goals in 15 appearances for Portugal has won trophies with Benfica, Valencia, Besiktas and Lokomotiv. He was a key member of the Lokomotiv side that won the league title in 2018 which was also the club’s first since 2004.

Corluka started his career at Dinamo Zagreb before going to play for Manchester City and Spurs in the Premier League. He had a brief loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen before moving to his present club, Lokomotiv Moscow, in 2012. The veteran is the current captain of the Russian club.

De Vrij started his career at Feyenoord before joining Lazio after the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He played 118 times for the Serie A club winning the Supercoppa Italiana in 2017 before joining rivals Inter Milan at the start of the current season.

De Vrij played every game for the Netherlands at the 2014 FIFA World Cup where they finished third. He even scored against Spain in the famous 5-1 win and was also one of two Dutch players selected for the Team of the Tournament.

The veteran also has three goals in 27 appearances for the Argentina national team and was part of the squad that finished runners up at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In fact, he was the captain of his side and his goal against Uruguay in the semifinal is regarded as one of the best goals in the tournament’s history.

The Dutchman, who turns 44, played for Feyenoord, Rangers, Arsenal and Barcelona before retiring in 2010 and becoming a manager. As a player, he won trophies with all his clubs including the league title in England, Spain and Scotland. He also won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006.

Bronckhorst is now the manager of Feyenoord and in 2017, he won the club’s first league title since 1999. In total, he has five trophies for Feyenoord as a manager.

Januzaj started his professional career at Manchester United but the weight of expectations held him back. He played for Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland on loan from United before joining Real Sociedad on a permanent deal in 2017.

After moving away from the limelight, he has found his feet in the La Liga and earned a call-up to the Belgium squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Januzaj scored a superb goal against England in a group stage game but did not feature in any other game.

Hagi started his career in Romania and scored a jaw-dropping 88 goals from midfield in only 118 games for Steaua București. He left București to join Real Madrid and after leaving Real, he went on to play for Brescia, Barcelona and Galatasaray.

After scoring 35 goals in 124 appearances for Romania and trophy-laden club career, he became a manager. Hagi is currently the manager of Romanian club Viitorul Constanța where his 20-year-old son, Ianis Hagi, plays. Under Hagi, Viitorul Constanța won its only Romanian top-flight title in 2016/17.

The Brazilian is already the third highest goalscorer for his country and needs only three more goals to surpass Ronaldo Nazario. He is also sure to surpass Pele’s tally of 77 goals before he hangs up his boots.
