Defender: Mario Gasper (Villarreal)
Mario Gasper is the only player from a non-La Liga top 3 team to feature in the La Liga 2015-16 team of the season. The Villareal right-back has been a vital part in his team securing a Champions League spot for the next season.
Gasper is in the team ahead of Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran for his successful season in La Liga in which he didn’t commit a single defensive error and had 85 interceptions to his name. His pace on the right flanks was too good for the opposition defenders to handle.
The Spanish international has been equally good on both defence and attack and has caught the eye of Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque, who could well look to him to fill the right-back berth in the upcoming Euros.
