Bayern Munich have been struck with a lot of injuries in recent times, which is holding the squad back from performing at their best. The biggest trouble is in the central defence where Niklas Sule is out for the season, while club-record signing Lucas Hernandez is on and off the pitch due to persistent injury issues.

Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez are past their prime, and Hans-Dieter Flick is being forced to use Canadian winger Alphonso Davies in the left-back position, while David Alaba who is known to play as a left-back or a central midfielder is putting in shifts in central defence.

Kingsley Coman is also injury prone, and Ivan Perisic hasn't been very effective in his absence, giving the Bayern board several positions to strengthen so the club can effectively challenge for all 3 titles they are competing for. Here are 3 signings Die Roten can make this winter.

#3 Joao Cancelo

The Manchester City right-back joined the club from Juventus this summer, however, he hasn't featured much in the first half of the season under Pep Guardiola, even with the injury issues in the City defence.

The 25-year-old right-back can play as a right-winger as well, which makes him all the more valuable, and fits the bill of Bayern Munich perfectly, as the club is reportedly on the lookout for a winger and right-back this winter.

Joao Cancelo is fast, technically adept, and very good at crossing. He's a very energetic player and fits in smoothly to Flick's dynamic pressing style of play. His added pace and energy means he would be able to cover more distance on the flanks than Benjamin Pavard when deployed as a right-back, which would be a massive plus for Bayern should he join them.

#2 Lukas Klostermann

The 23-year-old German international from RB Leipzig is the second target on the Bayern Munich list. The versatile defender is usually known for playing as a right-back but he can play in all the defensive positions.

Given the string of injuries Bayern are currently facing in their defence, Lukas Klostermann would be a brilliant asset for the Bavarian giants. A large part of his gameplay is benefited from his physical attributes, which helps even in aerial duels, something which is often overlooked with regards fullbacks.

Klostermann has a lot of pace and stamina, which helps in breaking down the opposition tempo, and he's also good with the ball at his feet.

Currently contracted to RB Leipzig till June 30, 2021, Klostermann has been stalling talks for an extension for several months now, therefore Bayern could seize the opportunity and sign him this winter to strengthen their squad.

#1 Leroy Sane

The first player on the list is undoubtedly Leroy Sane. The talented winger was supposed to join Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, but an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Community Shield season opener meant the transfer had to be postponed.

Bayern kept him on their target list for future transfer windows and went on to sign Ivan Perisic on loan from Inter Milan instead of going for a big name to compensate for missing out on Sane's signature.

Though not expected to be back until March, Sane's signing would be a huge boost for Bayern, more so, if they qualify for the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League.

The winger has been rejecting contract extension offers at Manchester City for several months now, and it's up to the Bayern board to make a move for the coveted winger now or postpone his signing till summer.
