Fortunes have changed for Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as the manager of the club in December last year. The club is now playing attacking football again and the defense has also shaped well to an extent. Most importantly, players such as Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, and Romelu Lukaku have done well under the Norwegian which is a big boost for the club.

However, Manchester United is still far from becoming a potent force yet again in Europe and to make that happen, the upcoming transfer window will be an important one for the club. If Machester United must reach the level of Manchester City or Liverpool, the Red Devils must smartly invest in a few impact players for the club.

This summer, the club must focus on bringing a few proven and experienced players to Old Trafford which would complement really well with the in-form youngsters at the club.

On that note, here are 3 players who can make Manchester United a really strong side if they sign them in the summer:

#3 Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld was a major defensive target for Manchester United last summer. However, the move did not materialize and the Belgian remained at Tottenham Hotspurs. However, Alderweireld is yet again being linked with a move to Manchester United.

Alderweireld is someone who can play at both the heart of the defense and also as a full-back. This could be an important factor for Manchester United to consider as they have suffered due to injuries to their defenders this season.

The Belgian is a strong physical presence at the back and is also capable of playing attacking football. He will be available for a cut-price option this summer and hence, he is one player who could make Manchester United a strong team next season.

#2 Adrien Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot is at loggerheads with his current club Paris Saint-Germain and a move in the summer looks inevitable for the 23-year-old. He has not featured for the club since December and having been suspended now, a lot of top European clubs are already readying moves for the midfielder.

Manchester United have now entered the race for Rabiot and keeping in mind the future of the club, the Red Devils must go ahead with this move. Adrien Rabiot has already displayed excellent performances as a midfielder and he could be a good addition to the Old Trafford club.

He is young and versatile and would be a nice option to pair Paul Pogba with. Like Alderweireld, he might as well come cheap for the club and hence, Manchester United must prioritize Adrien Rabiot's transfer in the summer.

#1 Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale has failed to hold on to his place at Real Madrid after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Bale has had injury issues this season and has also looked out of form in a few matches. With Zinedine Zidane being brought back to the club as manager, Gareth Bale might decide to leave the Spanish giants in the summer. Manchester United has been linked with him in the past and they should try to sign him this summer.

Manchester United has failed to find a genuine right-winger in the past few seasons and that has affected them in a few games. Bale is a good option to fulfill this role and considering the Welshman's gifted pace and physical presence, he could add an edge to the attack of the Red Devils.

Hence, Gareth Bale could be the final piece of the puzzle for Manchester United to return back to its glorious past.
