#3 Mateo Kovacic (Trophies Won – 15)
Mateo Kovacic was one of Chelsea’s best players in their campaign before the season came to a halt. Tipped as one of Croatia’s best young talents, the 25-year old has already represented some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Kovacic started his career in his homeland with Dinamo Zagreb. The youngster immediately made an impact as he won three league titles, as well as a couple of Croatian Cups, thereby catching Inter Milan’s attention.
The Croatian was one of Inter’s better players during his 3-year spell in Italy as the Italian giants were going through one of their worst phases ever. With Inter struggling under the cloud of Financial Fair Play regulations, Kovacic attracted a lot of interest from other clubs, with Real Madrid winning the race to sign him in the summer of 2015.
Kovacic enjoyed a lot of success at the Spanish capital, lifting the Champions League 3 times, as well as LaLiga in 2016/17, and the Supercopa de Espana in 2017. Despite lifting all the silverware, the Croat never truly established himself in the starting line-up, with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos blocking his path to the first-team.
Growing frustrated on the bench, the Croatian international joined Chelsea on loan in 2018, before making his move permanent this season. He won the Europa League in his first season, meaning he had won a European trophy in four consecutive seasons.
