The closing date of the summer transfer window is knocking on the doors of clubs who are looking to fill the gaps in their squad. Since there is no other opportunity for clubs to strengthen their ranks until January, they will be looking to complete their signings as soon as possible.

This transfer season has been historic, with LaLiga clubs spending over €1 billion, and Premier League clubs spending over €500 million in the market. However, with a few days left until the transfer deadline, this number will certainly increase over time as clubs will try to make last-minute signings to improve their squads.

With the likes of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid still being in the market, here is a list of five big-money signings that could still happen before the summer transfer deadline.

#5 Christian Eriksen (Tottenham to Manchester United)

A crafty midfielder who also scores on occasions, Christian Eriksen is a vital asset to Tottenham's midfield, and one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, with his flashy dribbling, defense-splitting passes, accurate crosses, and deadly shots. Eriksen, who is also known as "The Golden Boy of Denmark", scored 10 goals in all competitions last season. He also provided 17 assists, the most by any Tottenham player.

However, he is entering the final year of his contract this season, and as such, his future is uncertain. And it is believed that Manchester United could make a late move for Eriksen, with the Premier League deadline day being on Thursday.

Despite the massive fee that would come with the transfer, this would be good business for the Red Devils, who are looking to strengthen their midfield this transfer window, and with Paul Pogba being rumored to leave for Real Madrid or Juventus, Eriksen would be a very solid addition to their midfield.

#4 Everton (Gremio to Arsenal)

One of the most exciting prospects in Brazil today, 23-year-old Everton Soares is a left-winger, who plays a key role in Gremio's midfield. With his sublime dribbling, mouth-watering through balls, and powerful finishes, Everton has already kicked off the Brazilian Serie A with a bang, scoring 10 in just 28 appearances this season.

However, Everton is most well known for his outstanding performance at this year's Copa America, being awarded the top scorer of the tournament, with three goals from just 373 minutes - a stellar record for such a big stage. At the final, the Brazilian international scored the opening goal and was named the Man of the Match.

Spanish daily MARCA reported that Arsenal are looking to pay €40 million for the Brazilian - for a young, proven talent like Everton, this would be a low-risk, high-return investment for the Gunners, especially in the current transfer climate.

#3 Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham to Tottenham)

Already an excellent player at just 19 years of age, Ryan Sessegnon is a pacy left-back who plays for Fulham. He was vital to their campaign last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions - he had a considerable contribution in the front, scoring four goals and assisting six times, while also contributing greatly in defense, making 131 recoveries in total last season.

As a result of his stellar performances on the pitch, Sessegnon has attracted interest of several European giants such as Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. However, he is likely to move to Tottenham this summer, with Josh Onomah going the other way.

Sessegnon is incredibly versatile, and with Tottenham's lack of squad depth, the Englishman is a perfect fit for them.

Additionally, given that Mauricio Pochettino's impressive track record in developing young players including the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, this would be a very good signing for Sessegnon's development as a player.

#2 Paulo Dybala (Juventus to Tottenham)

Tottenham are facing a difficult predicament in their attacking midfield this summer - with starter Eriksen linked with leaving the club, with one year left in his contract. Spurs are reportedly interested in signing FC Barcelona player Philippe Coutinho. However, with no deal materializing between the two clubs yet, Tottenham would need to find a replacement as soon as possible.

According to the Guardian, the club have found their replacement in Paulo Dybala, the 25-year-old Argentine who plays for Juventus.

Quick, elegant, and creative, the Argentine international has rocked the Serie A in the past few years, becoming a regular starter for Juventus from the 2015-16 season, when he was just 21 years old. Since then, he has regularly showcased his skill on the ball, passing ability, and uncanny intelligence on the field.

Along with this, Dybala is incredibly versatile, with the ability to play anywhere in any offensive position, with his preferred position being the "false 9" role. Dybala's versatility and pure footballing skill would make him an excellent signing for Spurs, who could use a world-class player like him.

#1 Neymar (PSG to FC Barcelona)

Neymar is hands-down one of the best players in the world. Starting his career as a teenager in Santos, Neymar moved to FC Barcelona for €87 million in 2013, and enjoyed tremendous success with the Catalan club, winning La Liga twice and the Champions League once, as part of the legendary trio MSN, along with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Despite this, Neymar moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, for a world-record fee of €222 million - he has since enjoyed added success in France, winning the Ligue 1 title twice in a row.

However, in a turn of events, Neymar may be returning to Barcelona. It has been known for a while now that the Brazilian was unhappy at PSG, stating that "I do not want to play anymore in PSG", as reported by the BBC.

Recently, a report by SPORT has stated that FC Barcelona had submitted a formal transfer request to PSG for Neymar, and a video has surfaced in the report, that shows Neymar seemingly saying goodbye to his teammates at PSG.

Neymar's return would certainly be welcome as his superb vision, excellent dribbling, and technical proficiency have been missed greatly by the Catalan club, who have not enjoyed much success in Europe recently.
