Chelsea has definitely not had the best of seasons. They got to the League Cup final but lost in penalties after extra time. They have, at times, not produced very good performances such as when they lost 4-0 to Bournemouth.

There have though been some good points to look at this season for Chelsea. They have qualified for the Champions League which is a great achievement and they are also in contention to win the Europa League in the coming 2 weeks.

Here are 5 players that I believe that Chelsea should promote to the first team due to the fact that Chelsea has a transfer ban.

#5 Reece James

Reece James has had a brilliant season on loan with Championship side Wigan. It was a good experience for James with the 19-year old making 44 starts in the Championship getting 3 goals and 3 assists. It looks like the young Englishman could be playing for Chelsea next season with Sarri interested in getting rid of defenders such as 26-year-old Davide Zappacosta and 33-year-old Gary Cahill.

#4 Mason Mount

Mason Mount helped Derby County reach playoffs.

Mason Mount has had a great season on loan at Derby County in the Championship helping them to reach the semi-final playoff against Leeds. The 20-year-old has played 36 games in the Championship this season and has scored 8 goals which are not bad for a midfielder. It looks like Mount will be back with Chelsea next season and will be looking to get some game time in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

#3 Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham scored 26 goals in 39 games.

The 21-year-old striker has had a great season on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship scoring 26 goals in 39 matches. This has led to him looking likely to play regularly for Chelsea next season due to Higuain unlikely to stay and no real goalscorer in the team if Eden Hazard leaves. It seems to make sense for Sarri to give him a chance next season.

#2 Fikayo Tomori

Fikayo Tomori has made 45 apperances at centre back.

Fikayo Tomori has been near ever-present for Derby in the Championship this season making a total of 45 appearances at centre back. At 21, he is starting to look like he should be given a chance at Chelsea next season especially with the likes of Gary Cahil set to leave the club.

However, some staff at Chelsea may feel that it would be good if he went out on loan to a Premier League club next season perhaps who can offer him more game time than Chelsea can.

#1 Billy Gilmour

Billy Gilmour has certainly impressed since joining Chelsea in 2017 from Rangers. This season he has stepped up a level and has made 19 appearances in the under 23s and has scored 5 goals. The Scotland-Under-21 midfielder should be confident of a call-up to the first team side in a League Cup or FA Cup game next season.
