We are reaching the halfway mark of the January transfer window and until now, we haven't seen many big transfers come to fruition. That said, there are still many huge transfer stories that are developing every day and one cannot rule out the possibility of a big-money signing until the transfer window slams shut.

Some teams have been more active than the rest; the likes of Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United are seemingly looking to sign some players, which is understandable because every single one of them require players to fill some holes in their respective squads.

Without further ado, let's take a look at the five players who could leave their respective clubs in January.

#5 Arturo Vidal

Arturo Vidal is another player who has been linked to Inter Milan, although many clubs seem to be in the running for him. The Chilean has found life difficult at the Camp Nou since his switch from Bayern Munich and it shouldn't come as a surprise that he wants to leave.

Also, now that Barcelona have sacked Ernesto Valverde, there's no guarantee that the Blaugrana's new manager Quique Setien will prefer him. So, expect the veteran midfielder to have a chat about his future with the new head coach and come to a decision before the end of the winter transfer window.

As of now, it seems Inter Milan have already initiated first contact.

#4 Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud has found it hard to break into the Chelsea team, especially under Frank Lampard as the Chelsea boss has preferred Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham over him. He has only featured in the Premier League this season and he hasn't started any of those games.

So, it's quite obvious that he wants a move, especially because of the fact that UEFA Euro 2020 is coming closer. Over the past couple of days, numerous rumors have suggested that Giroud is on the verge of joining Inter Milan.

As of now, nothing has been made official yet and it seems that a fee for the player is being negotiated. Whatever the case, right now, it looks like Antonio Conte wants the player and Giroud wants the move, so there's a good chance that the Frenchman will leave Chelsea this month.

#3 Ashley Young

Ashley Young's contract is running out this summer and now that he hasn't signed a contract extension with Manchester United, it only makes sense that the Red Devils sell him in January, so that Young doesn't leave them on a free.

The Englishman would fit into Conte's system seamlessly, as he can play as a left wing-back and a right wing-back. With the rise of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams at Manchester United, it seems Young will get more playing opportunities with Inter.

Similar to Giroud, this transfer now hinges on the fee that hasn't been agreed yet.

#2 Christian Eriksen

Another player who has been linked heavily with Inter Milan is Christian Eriksen. The Danish midfielder is in the final year of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur and he seemingly isn't interested in signing an extension, so it's likely that Spurs let him go for a fee this month.

It's been heavily reported that Eriksen held talks with Inter Milan this month, with the club looking for midfielders in the transfer window. Antonio Conte wants a creative midfielder in his arsenal and playing under one of the best managers in the world could be appealing to Eriksen.

#1 Bruno Fernandes

It had to be this one, isn't it? Bruno Fernandes has again been linked with a move to Manchester United, only this time, it's not only the Portuguese media that is reporting, but also the English media.

Some credible reports have emerged over the past couple of weeks, stating that United have held talks with Sporting CP for the Portuguese midfielder but nothing is done yet. It's no secret that United need a midfielder, especially a number 10 and Fernandes is very versatile; he can play both as an attacking midfielder and a number 8.

United need a player like him to boost their chances of making it into the top four and it's a signing that could happen in January.
