Negredo: Looking for a new challenge

Spain striker Alvaro Negredo has expressed his desire to leave Los Rojiblancos to play in the Champions League next season. The club rejected a €17m bid from West Ham earlier this month, but are now resigned to losing the former Real Madrid striker.

Negredo had a terrific season at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, scoring 25 goals in 34 league games and believes its time to test himself at a higher level. Arsenal, Napoli and Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested in the striker.

Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido confirmed that the Negredo might follow Jesus Navas, Luis Alberto and and Antonio Luna through the exit doors. Atletico Madrid are said to be in pole position to land the striker as they seek a replacement for star striker Radamel Falcao, who was sold to AS Monaco.

“He has said he wants to develop and that he wants to play in the Champions League,” Del Nido said.

“One of the teams is Atletico Madrid and the other is outside of Spain.”
